Pohorski lonec is a meat stew from the Pohorje region. Like Bograč, this recipe calls for three types of meat: veal, pork, and turkey. It’s a rich meat stew, great for any day of the year.
Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp oil
- 2 onions
- 50g bacon
- 2 garlic cloves
- 250g veal
- 250g pork
- 250g turkey
- 1 tbsp mushroom powder
- ½ tsp thyme
- ½ tsp marjoram
- ½ tsp oregano
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 sprig parsley
- 300g mixed mushrooms
- 400g cooked barley
- 400g potatoes
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
Method:
- Dice the onion and saute for a few minutes. Add the bacon and garlic and cook.
- Add all three types of meat and cook for 10 minutes.
- Season with mushroom powder and spices.
- Add the cooked barley and 1.5 liters of water. Simmer for 1 hour.
- Add the potatoes and cook for 30 minutes.
- Season with vinegar and sprinkle with chopped parsley.
- Divide between plates and serve.
