From 30 August to 2 September 2025, Bled will host the 20th edition of the Bled Strategic Forum (BSF), Slovenia’s leading international conference and one of Europe’s foremost platforms for addressing global challenges.

The Bled Strategic Forum was established in 2006, when Slovenia was looking for ways to strengthen its role in the international community and enhance the soft power of its foreign policy. Designed as an open and inclusive platform, the Forum brings together political leaders, business representatives, academics, civil society, cultural figures, and young people from around the world at the end of each August. Its mission is to encourage meaningful dialogue on the most pressing global issues – from security, migration and climate change to digital transformation and the future of democracy.

From modest beginnings to global recognition

The first Forum in 2006 gathered around 300 participants. Today, BSF hosts more than 2,500 participants from over 90 countries, making it one of Europe’s most prominent strategic conferences. Its growth has been guided by the core values of wisdom, perseverance, responsibility, and democratic dialogue.

  • Wisdom: from the very start, Slovenia recognised the importance of international platforms that connect politics, business, and society.
  • Perseverance: despite financial, organisational, and infrastructural challenges, BSF has become a globally recognised event.
  • Responsibility: global challenges require global responses – BSF provides a space for shaping ideas and solutions that go beyond national borders.
  • Democracy: every well-argued voice counts, as only a diversity of perspectives can lead to long-term solutions.

Looking ahead

The 20th anniversary of BSF is not only a time for reflection but also an opportunity to look to the future. The Forum is evolving into a year-round platform that extends beyond the annual conference. Through events and debates in Slovenia and abroad, in cooperation with international partners, BSF is strengthening its analytical role and consolidating its position as one of the key instruments of Slovenia’s soft power diplomacy.
