A special Showcase at Mladinsko Theatre

Of all Slovenian theatres, the Mladinsko Theatre it is the one that most frequently tours around the world. Since starting touring in 1975, the theatre has visited a host of cities and international theatre festivals. It was established in 1955 as the first professional theatre for children and young people in Slovenia. In the 1980s, it re-focused on interdisciplinary integration of different theatrical approaches. Today it is renowned for its broad array of innovative poetic productions by various young directors and for its phenomenal ensemble energy.

The ensemble of the Slovensko mladinsko gledališče (Mladinsko Theatre) is aware how difficult it is to follow theatre productions that are not performed in the mother tongue. From 7 to 10 March 2024 four of their high-profile theatre productions will be performed with English surtitles projected above the stage.

Of all the Slovenian theatres, the Mladinsko Theatre is the one that most frequently tours other countries.  In four days, they will stage intensive theatre experiences, and with the English translations displayed as surtitles they will provide an insight into modern Slovenian theatre also to non-Slovenian-speaking visitors.

These performances open horizons and break down the boundaries of the theatrical, reveal new languages and masterfully use languages already known; they are distinguished by their penetration, innovation and distinctiveness.
