Slovenian Olympians from Paris greet fans in Ljubljana

The Slovenian Olympians from Paris thanked the fans at the Congress Square in Ljubljana. At a reception in the centre of the capital, Slovenian sportsmen and women re-lived Olympic moments and addressed their supporters.

The Slovenian athletes who competed at the Olympic Games in Paris came together as a team for one last time in the centre of Ljubljana, where they greeted their loyal fans and thanked them for their support at a central reception for the national team.

The Olympic Team Reception is a traditional event that brings together the entire Slovenian Olympic team, giving fans, families and friends the chance to pay tribute to their sporting heroes. This time, the biggest applause and enthusiasm was shown by the three medal winners from the French capital, judo gold medallist Andreja Leški and climber Janja Garnbret, and silver medallist kiteboarder Toni Vodišek.

This year's Games saw the largest national team in history, with 90 athletes.

The Olympians and fans were then addressed by the President of the Slovenian Olympic Committee, Franjo Bobinac. "Today, thanks to you, Ljubljana is the centre of the Olympic world, not Paris. I am very happy to be here today to celebrate your sporting successes. But this is not a time for big words, but above all it is a moment for a big tribute and applause to all our Olympians who have fantastically represented Slovenia's colours in Paris 2024."

"We also had a Slovenian House where we celebrated sporting successes, we represented Slovenia and it was really nice, especially when we were together as athletes, fans, partners and so on," added Bobinac, who went on to thank the fans for their support in sport.

To the delight of the crowd, the medal winners then took to the stage to relive the victorious Olympic moments of a few days ago on the big screen and thanked their supporters.
