Slovenia is set to compete in the European Championship 2024, marking their return after 24 years. The Slovenian national football team secured their place by defeating Kazakhstan 2:1 in the final round of qualifying, sparking a wave of football euphoria across the nation.
Playing at the electrifying Stožice Stadium in Ljubljana, where over 16,000 fans passionately rallied behind the team. The sold-out stadium witnessed the home team's jubilation, led by head coach Matjaž Kek, as Slovenian national team not only met the required draw but secured all three crucial points.
Matjaž Kek expressed his joy, saying: "We are happy, delighted, and proud. It's well-deserved. Thanks to Slovenia for the incredible positive energy in recent months. It was worth it for this generation of footballers; they have restored faith in Slovenian football."
Having clinched the second spot in their qualifying group, just behind Denmark, Slovenia now eagerly anticipates the Euro 2024 draw on 2 December. The team's accomplishment fulfils a pre-qualification goal set by the Slovenian Football Association, bringing joy to football enthusiasts and prompting UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin to describe it as "a happy day for Slovenian football, for Slovenia, and Slovenian sports."
