Franko House, run by Slovenian chef Ana Roš, is once again among the 50 best restaurants in the world. It was ranked 48th.
As the culinary experts explain, Ana Roš put Slovenia on the gastronomic map after becoming the world's best female chef in 2017. Roš is self-taught, "specialising in truly local food, using only produce grown within a few kilometres of the restaurant in the stunning surroundings of the Soča Valley," they added.

50 shades of red
The experts highlighted the current Franko House tasting menu, called 50 shades of red, which includes dishes such as rose petals with brown butter, quail's egg and Alpine caviar, and cappellettes with black pear and artichoke.
Ana Roš has previously won numerous prestigious awards, including being ranked third in The Best Chef Awards 2023, the only woman in the top ten, last November. Franko House is also the only restaurant in Slovenia to boast three Michellin stars.
