On 3 December, many cultural institutions across Slovenia open their doors and invite visitors to free cultural and artistic events.
The day dedicated to culture was initiated by the Ministry of Culture on the occasion of the bicentenary of the birth of the poet France Prešeren – 3 December 2000. Every year since, cultural institutions have opened their doors wide on this day, inviting visitors to free cultural and artistic events and activities.
Exhibitions, guided tours, workshops, theatre, film screenings, concerts, dance performances, lectures and more – the choice of events on the day is wide and there is bound to be something to suit everyone’s taste. Interested in art, architecture, history, technology, arts and crafts, or cultural events for children? Then take a look at the programme and attend one of more than 300 events in Slovenia.
Events with detailed descriptions are collected on a special website of the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia and can be grouped by region, age group, genre and other specific features. The wide range of cultural and artistic events is suitable for all age groups, including organised groups from educational institutions.
Culture connects and enriches us. And 3 December is a great opportunity to make time for culture and let it take us to a world of endless possibilities.
