May Santa bring everyone happiness!

Slovenia is known for its solidarity, and the festive season of Christmas and New Year, in particular, is a time of year when gift-giving is at the forefront of our minds. Charity campaigns such as Santa for a Day, the Three Winter Godfathers, Humanitarček, Botrstvo, school and municipal charity campaigns, and the like remind us that the essence of the festive season is inner joy and happiness and not just expensive gifts in shiny paper.

The Santa for a Day project is completely non-profit and run entirely by volunteers. Various Slovenian companies also help with logistics. The project was initiated and is led by Savina Goličnik. It is a charity campaign which aims to collect gifts for socially disadvantaged children and the elderly. It has a personal touch, because the gifts are prepared for a specific person. Anyone can be Santa Claus.

Humanitarček fulfils the small wishes of homeless people, which are sometimes really modest, like a packet of cigarettes, a bottle of aftershave or a chocolate. In other words, just a treat that they cannot afford because of their life situation. The Three Winter Godfathers is also a project run by volunteers. This project is also very personal, as the children write their wishes in a letter to a kind stranger, who then grants them.

On Christmas Eve, also the little heroes (kids with the cancer in hospital) receive their own book to brighten up their hospital days and bring them hope.

And these are just a few of the campaigns that are going on. Why not also organise a charity event in your own way in your own hometown?

May this festive season fill our hearts with hope, bring us sincere joy, ease our worries and put a big smile on our faces. Not only because a gift was waiting for us, but also because we gave gifts to others. In Slovenia, we can truly be proud of our compassionate hearts.
