Slovenian athletes achieve a series of outstanding successes

Slovenian athletes have achieved a number of outstanding successes over the past week, once again confirming that Slovenia, despite its small size, is home to top talent. They have once again shown that with perseverance, talent and passion they can achieve outstanding success at the highest level. Together, they have once again put Slovenia on the map of world sport and delighted their fans at home and around the world.

Tim Gajser, Slovenian motocross rider, won the Italian Grand Prix in the MXGP class. He delivered a superb ride at the Maggiora venue and took the top step of the podium, another important success in his already illustrious career.

At the European Sprint Sprint Championships in Szeged, Hungary, Anja Osterman and Mia Medved won the silver medal in the 200 m double. With their outstanding coordination and speed, they took second place and proved that they are among the best in Europe.

Mountain biker Monika Hrastnik won bronze in the fourth downhill race of the World Cup in Val di Sole. For Hrastnik, this is her first podium finish of the year, which is an important milestone in her career.

The Slovenian national football team impressed at the European Championships with a draw against Denmark, which earned them an important point. The team showed tremendous fight, which is crucial for further success at the championships. With this point, the Slovenian players have laid the foundations for their future performances and secured an important confidence boost ahead of the next competitions.

Luka Dončić impressed once again on the court across the Atlantic, as he and the Dallas Mavericks defeated the Boston Celtics in Game 4 of the NBA Finals. Although the finals did not go the way our basketball ace and his team wanted, Dončić proved throughout the season that he is one of the best basketball players in the world with his outstanding performances. This season has been full of surplus for Luka. He has set many new milestones and impressed fans around the world with his outstanding play.

For the first time in Slovenia's history, we have three teams qualified for the Summer Olympics. In addition to the men's and women's handball teams, the men's volleyball team will also qualify on 18 June 2024. All three teams, with their outstanding performances, have deservedly won a ticket to Paris, where they will compete for the top spots.
