The flag-bearers of the Slovenian Olympic Team at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris will be canoeist and gold Olympic medallist Benjamin Savšek and captain of the women's national handball team Ana Gros. They have been chosen due to their many successes and historic achievements.
Ana Gros is the captain that led the women's national handball team to Olympics for the first time since Slovenia gained independence. She is the best shooter and player in the history of Slovenian women's national handball team and received the EHF Excellence Award in the 2022/2023 Women's EHF Champions League.
Benjamin Savšek, the first Slovenian gold Olympic medallist in canoeing, can also boast an excellent sporting career. He has won one Olympic, six World Championships and twelve European Championships medals. Eleven of these medals were gold.

Both athletes have never been afraid of big challenges and are certainly setting a good example of how to achieve success with their enthusiasm and sacrifice.
Their achievements are not only a result of their talent but also of hard work and complete dedication to their sport.
They are, without a doubt, the right choice and, together with our other athletes, will be a source of great pride at the opening ceremony.
