Mountain centres ready for the new season

The ski season is just around the corner. All of you who love to ski must be looking forward to it. Some Slovenian ski resorts are already open and others will open soon. Slovenia offers a large number of well maintained ski resorts. True, they cannot compare in length with ski resorts in Austria or Italy, but the advantages of Slovenian ski resorts are certainly the extra side facilities, especially for families.

Mariborsko Pohorje - the largest ski resort in Slovenia

Mariborsko Pohorje is one of the oldest Slovenian ski resorts and the largest ski resort in Slovenia. It is also world-famous for its World Cup and Golden Fox ski races. Pohorje has one of the longest floodlit ski slopes in Europe, so you can go skiing in the evening.

Many ski resorts around the country

Krvavec is the second highest ski resort (after Kanin) in Slovenia. It is one of the more demanding ski slopes, although some of the terrain is suitable for beginners. For those who want to try their hand at acrobatics alongside skiing, there is a snow park for skiers and snowboarders.

The Vogel is renowned as the ski resort with the most beautiful views.

From Vogel you can see snow-capped Triglav and the other highest mountains, as well as an exceptional view of the valley overlooking Lake Bohinj. Vogel also has a snow park, equipped with various elements for performing tricks.

Lots of new investment

Slovenia's mountain centres made significant investments last year, and for many of them this winter season will be the first in which they will be able to exploit their potential.

Last year, nine ski centres received the largest investments in tourism in the last 10 years, with a total of more than €76 million in new infrastructure and new experiences.

The public call for investments in quality and sustainable transformation of tourism to strengthen its resilience aimed to restructure mountain centres into year-round mountain resorts by strengthening tourism products that will attract tourists to mountain centres also outside the winter season.
