Children’s Week is celebrated every year in the first week of October. It offers an opportunity to reflect on the issues that arise for parents, carers, educators and teachers in relation to children, as well as those that children themselves deal with.
In her message on the occasion of Children’s Week, the President of the National Assembly, Urška Klakočar Zupančič, stressed that children are the bright future of our society. Not only does everyone have the right to love and to a safe environment in which to develop, but it is our responsibility to create a world in which all children have an opportunity to make adequate progress and the potential to achieve their goals, she stressed.
Curiosity is the central theme of this year's Children's Week, organised by the Slovenian Association of Friends of Youth.
On this occasion, the Association organised a panel discussion entitled “The Whys and Becauses of Curiosity”. Participants stressed the importance of curiosity at all ages, and in particular the need to foster, not suppress, children's curiosity.
Curiosity can already be observed in babies. It is the foundation of creativity, innovation and development. Let’s spark it and support children in their exploration!
