This weekend, the valley beneath the Ponce mountains will host not only a celebration of ski jumping, but a truly historic event. Alongside the traditional men’s final, the legendary Gorišek brothers flying hill will, for the first time, welcome the top 15 women of the season. For the first time in history, both men and women will conclude the Ski Jumping World Cup season at the same venue, the cradle of ski flying.
Following outstanding performances by Slovenian ski jumpers this season, organisers are expecting thousands of visitors and an unforgettable sporting spectacle.
Crystal globes for Domen and Nika Prevc
Planica 2026 will once again be marked by the success of the Prevc family. Peter Prevc, the new president of the organising committee and a ski jumping legend, expressed his pride ahead of the event.
"In Planica, we all come together and show the world what we are capable of. I call on all fans to take off decisively — just like Nika from the take-off ramp — and head to Planica, where they will witness a historic moment: Slovenia will win not one, but two crystal globes."
His brother and sister, Domen and Nika Prevc, who have been thrilling fans all winter with their top performances in the World Cup and at the Olympic Games, will receive the large crystal globes for their overall victories right here in Planica. It has truly been a historic year for both.

At just 21 years old, Nika Prevc will claim her third consecutive large crystal globe. The three-time Olympic medallist is especially excited to compete in Planica. Her brother Peter also welcomed the historic decision."For years, ski jumpers have seen Planica as the highlight of the season. This year, we have the honour of making it the highlight for women as well. New memories, moments and perhaps even records will be created."
Last year, it was Domen Prevc who made headlines with a 254.5-metre jump, bringing the ski flying world record back to Planica after 14 years. This year, it may be time for the women’s record to fall here as well.
Domen Prevc can also boast remarkable achievements this season, securing his place among the most successful ski jumpers of all time. Within just 363 days, he claimed world championship titles in both ski jumping and ski flying, won olympic gold, the golden eagle, and now the large crystal globe.

Planica is not only a venue of records, but also one of Slovenia’s biggest social events. As tradition dictates, yesterday was dedicated to the youngest visitors. As part of the Children of Triglav initiative, supported by Triglav Insurance Company since 1979, 4,000 young fans visited the valley.
The festive atmosphere will continue to build throughout the weekend, with concerts by popular Slovenian artists taking place at various locations.
