Solidarity Day, 14 August, is a day when Slovenia will come together to help people in the flood-affected areas in Slovenia.
On this day, everyone in the affected areas, as well as in other towns and cities, can do their best to help flood victims in various ways, including by cleaning up, collecting aid, donating or otherwise showing their solidarity and compassion to flood victims.
14 August is proclaimed a public holiday, therefore here are some useful information:
- The areas of Črna na Koroškem, Mežica, Solčava, Luče, Mozirje and Ljubno ob Savinji are not freely accessible for visitors, but for organized rescue and relief groups and organizations only.
- 14 August is a work free day, so shops might be closed.
- Due to flood clean-up and recover some parts of Slovenia are closed for visitors. Check the traffic updates HERE.
- Public transport has a holiday schedule: Slovenian Railways and bus connections
However, all of the country's critical infrastructure will be operational, covering the energy, transport, food, drinking water supply, health, finance, environmental protection and information and communication network sectors.
