Until July 14, the eyes of Europe will be on Germany as football teams from across the continent compete for the European Championship title. For the first time in 24 years, Slovenia is among the 32 participating nations at UEFA EURO.
This achievement is no accident; it reflects the perseverance, innovation, and excellence that characterize Slovenian athletes and the nation. These values are equally vital in the business world, where Slovenia's passion for sports fuels innovation, economic growth, and national pride. Our athletes' successes position Slovenia as a premier destination for investment, tourism, and international cooperation.
Slovenia's national football team has already played its first match at the European Championship, drawing with Denmark in Stuttgart. The next opportunity for our team comes on June 20 in Munich.
The day before, Munich will host the Slovenian-German Business and Investment Congress “Invest & Connect: Slovenian Business Pitch" on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at the BMW Welt Congress Hall. This event will connect top-level sports, business, science, and tourism, fostering stronger cooperation between German and Slovenian partners.
The congress will be attended by high-ranking representatives of the Slovenian and German governments, including Slovenian Prime Minister Dr. Robert Golob, Minister of Economy, Tourism, and Sport Matjaž Han, and Hubert Aiwanger, Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs, Regional Development, and Energy, and Deputy Prime Minister of Bavaria. A large delegation of Slovenian companies will also participate.
Discussions with German partners will address the challenges of Slovenian-German business cooperation, the automotive industry, the future of collaboration in high technologies and innovation, and business opportunities for Slovenian and German companies in both markets. Germany is one of Slovenia's most important foreign trade partners, with a trade volume of €14.4 billion. It ranks fourth in terms of foreign direct investment, with €1.84 billion, and is the leading country in terms of tourist arrivals.
The congress aims to explore economic opportunities between Slovenian and German companies. This event promises to further strengthen cooperation between German and Slovenian partners, highlighting top initiatives in business, sports, science, and tourism.
Organized by the Football Association of Slovenia, SPIRIT Slovenia, and the Ministry of Economy, Tourism, and Sport, with the support of the Slovenian Tourist Board, the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Germany, the Consulate General of the Republic of Slovenia in Munich, and the Slovenian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
