Rising Flancati are soft, sweet and delicious. Something you have to try in Slovenia.



40 dag flour

5 dag butter

5 dag sugar

4 dag of yeast, 1 dl of milk, 1 teaspoon of sugar

2 dl milk

2 yolks

teaspoon salt

oil for frying

Heat the milk (1 dl), stir in the sugar and yeast and allow it to rise in the cup.

Let the butter outside the refrigerator to soften completely.

Put the flour into a large bowl; add all ingredients and the rising yeast.

Knead the dough and let it rise for 30 minutes.

Then roll it out to 5 mm thick and cut into rectangles or other shapes.

Cut them also in-between to get the traditional shape.

Allow these to rise again for 20 minutes.

Fry them in hot oil or lard.

Drain them on kitchen paper and serve with jam.
