As part of the pre-Christmas reception, the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2023 in Planica were promoted on 15 December 2022 in Salzburg. The event was organised by the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to Austria, Aleksander Geržina, and the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Slovenia in Salzburg, Anton Santner.
The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships Planica 2023 is the biggest sporting event ever held in Slovenia. Planica, Kranjska Gora and Slovenia will be presented to more than 500,000,000 TV viewers worldwide. For two weeks, Slovenia will become the centre of world sport and a synonym for courage, innovation and development. With more than 40 world records, it has become a magnet for visitors from all over the world. From a small town and valley, Planica has become a global sensation and firmly established itself on the sports map of the biggest and best organisers of such sporting events. We expect 250,000 visitors, 2,700 journalists from 70 countries, 2,500 athletes, and 1,800 volunteers.
The Austrian state of Salzburg is a sporting, tourist and economic hub. It is also home to many ski centres, world-famous athletes and companies that are an important partner for the Slovenian economy. Salzburg is therefore the right destination to promote Planica, Kranjska Gora and Slovenia, and of course the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships," said the Slovenian Ambassador to Austria, Aleksander Geržina.
This is what the venue in Planica will look like in two months' time.
