The dish belongs to the Štajerska region with the surroundings of Posavje region. There are some variations mentioned in the area, such as rised apple roll. It is a cheaper alternative ofthe classic potica, typical of the time when not everyone could afford in thath time very expensive nuts. However, apples have always been in the house.




1 kg flour

1 cube of yeast, 1 teaspoon of sugar, 1 dl of milk for the dough starter

0.5 l milk

10 dag sugar

1 dcl oil

1 vanilla sugar


5 yolks




2 kg of sweet apples

3 dl dense sweet cream




Prepare the dough starter: heat the milk, add the yeast and sugar, and let it rise.

Heat butter and mix milk, sugar, egg yolks, salt and oil.

Pour flour into large bowl, add yeast and butter mixture.

Knead the smooth dough so that it separates from the pan.

Cover and let to rise for 50 minutes.

Roll out the dough and spread it with cream.

Grind apples and let them stand for 15 minutes to moisten.

Then strain and stir in the cinnamon and sprinkle it over the dough.

Roll the dough and let rise for half an hour.

Bake it in the oven on 180 C for 1 hour.
